About Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is a profession that supports individuals, groups and communities to engage with everyday life. Occupational Therapists (OTs) believe that occupations (i.e. the activities we take part in) affect our health and wellbeing and they take a humanistic and holistic approach to enable the people or populations they work with to engage in the occupations that are most meaningful to them (the activities they want, need or are expected to do).

Traditionally OTs have worked in health and social care however, there are many potential areas that could benefit from input from an OT. OTs have a unique perspective that explores the interaction between people, environment and occupation. This might be the perspective needed to solve a particular problem or challenge you are having.

If you feel you or your service might benefit from the services of an occupational therapist please contact me.

In the U.K. the term Occupational Therapist is a protected title regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
